Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has been a revelation in lameness diagnosis over the last decade. We have installed the most recent and up to date Hallmarq MRI scanner which allows us to complete our scans with your horse under standing sedation.
MRI allows the detailed examination of the different structures of the lower limb, and is particularly useful in the evaluation of diseases of the foot including the so-called "navicular disease" and in the emergency situation with penetrating injuries. The procedure can also provide valuable information about more proximal areas of the limbs, such as the fetlock, knee and suspensory ligament. This enables us to make an accurate diagnosis and therefore recommend a more suitable treatment plan. This can save you both time and money.
Most scans will take approximately 2-4 hours and a report will be completed within 48 - 72 hours of the scan.
